Being a Field Goal Kicker is one of the most high-pressured positions in all of sports. University of Colorado field goal kicker Aric Goodman knows that well. He has had some success, such as when he hit the game-winner against the University of West Virginia earlier this season. But he also knows what it's like to struggle, making only three of 11 field goals this season and being replaced by Jameson Davis. Sports Psychotherapist Dr. Julie Emmerman agrees that the pressure for a kicker can be very high, but Goodman hopes to turn things around.

Good evening ladies and gentleman, Im Bill Nevin the announcer for the WVU Marching Band. On behalf of WVU Director of Bands John Hendricks, marching band director Jay Drury, and the members of the Mountaineer Marching Band, Id like to say how thrilled we are to be performing this evening at Bethel Park as part of the 41st annual Bethel Park Band Festival. On behalf of the WVU Marching Band we would like to thank the Bethel Park High School Band Boosters and band director David Buetzow for their support and assistance in making our performance here tonight possible. Wed also like to say thank you to all donors who have contributed to the ongoing Pride Travel Fund, a campaign of the WVU Foundation. We appreciate your support. And now ladies and gentleman, please welcome The Pride of West Virginia, The Mountaineer Marching Band! We are proud that the WVU marching band is known to be one of the oustanding marching bands in the country. This years band is the largest in West Virginia University history, consisting of 390 members. In 1997 the WVU marching band was awarded the Sudler Trophy by the John Phillips Sousa Foundation, recognizing us as the outstanding college marching band in the country. It is interesting to note that the vast majority of students enrolled in the WVU band come from various states up and down the eastern United States. Approximately 50% are residents of West Virginia. WVU Band students are enrolled in all of the various colleges at the university and in fact represent nearly every major that the university has to offer. For the first part of this evenings performance, the band will perform its traditional pre-game show which is performed at all home Mountaineer football games. Imagine if you will that you are at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown. At this point the band members would be hidden in the tunnels of the stadium, waiting to make their exciting entrance. So in reality, you would not see the band at this time. Because we design are shows so that the sound reaches as many Mountaineer fans as possible, you will notice that there are several times where band members will be facing both sides of the field during the performance. You will find this especially true during our pre-game show.

Song: Hurt Artist: Johnny Cash Movie: We Are Marshall (Belongs to Warner Brothers Co.) I decided to post this early, and release it early. What can I say, I'm impatient. For those who don't know, the movie "We are Marshall" is about the tragic plane crash that killed the entire football team of Marshall University in 1970. My Uncle, who was #43, died when he was 19 years old. Many families lost their mothers and fathers, husbands, brothers, and fiances. It was a deep pain that was felt by everyone. However, even though many thought the football program should be canceled, against overbearing odds, Marshall was allowed to play freshmen on the team, and after many struggles, managed to pull themselves out of the ashes. In this thirty-eighth anniversary of my Uncle's death, I saw fit to make another Marshall tribute. For the past year, this song has haunted me, playing in my mind when I least expected it, following me. I felt the tone and the message went right along with Marshall. Sometimes, we can look back on tragic events and see how far we've come, and rejoice in how much better we are. But sometimes...when we look back, we feel nothing but grief. I may not know first hand how it feels to lose someone (Thank you, God) but I sympathize with those who have. This is just one way I try to reach out to those who are hurting. We hear you, and we love you. In the end, I put in my father's favorite part of the speech that Jack Lyngall gives. I remember a year before the movie came out, my father reciting it to me in the exact voice that Matthew uses. x) It's one of those speeches that truly touches the heart. That one's for you, Dad! :) Nothing belongs to me, We Are Marshall belongs to Warner Brother's Co. and the song belongs to its respective owner.
